I’m trying out a new OC, Vernia. She’s a wizard from another world who has snake eyes for some inexplicable reason.

The one with the mask was the first design but I quickly ditched that. She has strange pure-white markings on her body.

In case you can’t read my illegible hand-writing, she has curly-esque hair that bunches up like leaves, a saggy Link-inspired hat, elf ears, dark tealish skin, purple stockings, dark brown boots, and a torn shirt.

She wields a magical wooden stick.

Opinions, opinions. Of which I have several! One of them is that the desktop computer is superior to that of the dedicated gaming console.

The biggest advantage of PCs over consoles is that it’s upgrade-able. Over time, games take advantage of newer hardware, and you as a hobbyist have the power (and possibly money) to switch out components as you see fit. Consoles, however, stay the same.

Consoles do have the benefit of cost and comfort. Since they have one sole purpose (entertainment), the ease of use is much higher than that of building and maintaining a full, modern desktop and operating system. They cost far less and are much more appealing to the masses.

Currently, the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 are at the end of their lifespan. The hardware is seven years old. However, new games are still being released, one of the biggest being Skyrim. Skyrim is limited on consoles, as it doesn’t support the insane graphics some PCs can provide nor does it have the infinite DLC of modders.

I had a conversation with a friend and I suggested that the Xbox 360 should release and update to their hardware every couple of years, keeping the core system intact and only upgrading components responsible for graphics and intense simulation. Such an upgrade would ensure 100% compatibility with every game for the system, but then… that’s just a PC.

A console that keeps being upgraded and can play the same games is just becoming a PC, and if you want something like that, why start fresh every time? You’d just build a PC and upgrade the parts.

The PS4 is actually rather close to a PC in architecture, so why is it a console at all? One word. Experience.

My gluteus maximus likes to stay in contact with solid seating most of its waking hours. My desktop and chair are not so comfortable. I don’t enjoy a keyboard and mouse all the time, and sometimes, I just want to unwind.

So I sit at a couch, even a couch I got from the side of the road will be better than any cheap office chair. I recline with a cheap ottoman and a little table next to me for snacks and a drink. This is how gaming is meant to be. But I want my PC to do the gaming

That’s why the PS4 is what it is. It brings some advantages of the PC and it focuses solely on being used for your entertainment set up in a place made for comfort. The PC is meant for you to get things done. Any things.

To end this ramble, I will share with you my thoughts of the future of the PC master race. Picture this:

A small office with a custom built, powerful PC, built for gaming and for work. It is hooked up to a modest display but the kicker is the WHDMI, wireless controller, and wireless headset. The adapters are mounted behind the display. After some work, you go to your living room with your couch and large television. You pick up your headset and controller connected to your PC across the way. You use voice dictation to launch Steam, which is set in Big Picture Mode by default. The rest… is gaming

That vision is expensive and current technology with wireless tends to suck, mostly in battery and interference. Due to the initial setup, this dream will also never become popular. This is why consoles will always reign supreme. But for those of us in the PC master race… one day we will catch up to them, and the pros and cons will be blurred.

And we can all join together in happiness… and make lewd comments about one another’s mothers over the internet.

It’s been a while since my May sketch dump of iMarc characters and I suddenly felt like drawing them all again. They may or may not eventually become a webcomic again.

You’ll notice Tim’s beard is larger and I mention Ken’s orange-red hair. That “she probs dyes it” should be “she totes dyes it” as her hair is already written down as blonde.

I was gonna use the word “canon” but then I realized these are personal doodles…
